Long Beach Museum of Art

The Long Beach Museum of Art, in downtown Long Beach, California, is a gallery that can be found on Ocean Boulevard in the city's Bluff Park area. With 35-foot ceilings, polished concrete floors, exposed brick walls, and abundant natural light, LBMA Downtown (purchased in 2019) is a gallery and meeting space in the center of the East Village Arts District.

Since its opening in 1950, the Long Beach Museum of Art has hosted innumerable ocean-view weddings, parties, and other celebrations. The museum's grounds, which are situated on the beautiful California coast, feature a two-story gallery area, a historic 1911 craftsman house, and an unobstructed view of the Queen Mary and Catalina Islands.

Presentations, seminars, training, and other events can be easily held at either the LBMA or the LBMA Downtown!

The museum's permanent collection has more than four thousand visual and decorative art pieces. The gallery's strong suits are American decorative arts items, California Modernism, European art from the early 20th century, and current California art.

The American Alliance of Museums has acknowledged the museum's excellence, and the North American Reciprocal Museums program includes it among its accredited members. This museum represents the values of a free and democratic society, the rule of law, and the national sovereignty that Long Beach represents.

Claire's at the Museum, with its stunning vista of the ocean and outdoor seating, is a popular lunch spot and weekend brunch destination for museum visitors. American sculptor Claire Falkenstein was honored with the naming of the restaurant in her name in 1972 for her donation of the restaurant's centerpiece, a twisted lattice fountain called Structure and Flow.

The museum's Toyota Student Gallery frequently features exhibits of work by local youth and schoolchildren. It is an amazing place to take your school-going children!

The Museum's KidsVisions Program has been educating all fifth graders in the Long Beach Unified School District since 1999. The program adheres to the Visual and Performing Arts Standards established by the National Education Association, the State of California, and the Long Beach Unified School District.

There is no cost for school groups to take the Toyota Tours offered by the museum (public or private). Visitors in groups of 10 to 15 can sign up for docent-led tours of the museum.

Meetings, luncheons, photoshoots, cocktail parties, seated receptions, and more may all be accommodated at either location. Put your trust in the Special Events staff to make your dreams a reality!
