La Jolla Cove

La Jolla Cove is no doubt one of the top-rated spots near San Diego. La Jolla Cove is surrounded by cliffs. The La Jolla point is actually situated in the south part of the cove. Being part of the marine reserve, the site is protected by the law. It is ideal among swimmers, scuba divers, and snorkelers. 

One of the prominent features of La Jolla Cove is the aromatic air that surrounds the spot. It is filled with the order of sea lions along with the ocean aroma. The sea lions are often seen leaving the water temporarily and resting in cliffs, beaches, and bluffs. The cove often faces the controversy of disturbing interactions among the visitors and sea lions. 

As compared to the other areas of San Diego's coastline, the water of La Jolla Cove is a bit cooler. This is because the cove facing the water is much deeper and colder. The beach also consists of a small dry area with sand. When there are low tides, the cove is covered with tide pools. 

In terms of weather conditions, it is similar to the land of La Jolla weather. Typically the temperature is in the range of 50 degrees to 90 degrees year-round. The cove's top is provided with outdoor showers as well as mega public restrooms. The restrooms have indoor showers as well as an indoor bench area with hooks. La Jolla Cove falls under the operations of the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park. It is a marine refuge area hence, any type of swimming device; for example surfboard, boogie boards, and even inflatable mattresses are not at all allowed. Also, no kayakers are permitted into the cove. 

La Jolla Cove is officially an ecological reserve. Therefore, fishing is strictly not allowed. The collection of marine invertebrates is also prohibited. La Jolla Cove serves as the home to the popular "La Jolla Cove Rough Water Swim" which takes place in September, on an annual basis. It is one of the oldest ocean swims all across the globe. The cove is also a permanent home to the Annual Concours d’Elegance. It takes place every spring at Scripps Park.
